We're always hiring the right person

Gearhouse runs on a small crew - people who canmake a great latte, fit a pair of skis, and make a newcomer feel like there's no wrong question to ask. When we meet someone like that, we find a way to work together. So don't wait for a posting: tell us what you're good at.

Who we're looking for

Specialty experience preferred - dialing in, working a busy bar, knowing when to adjust the grind. But we care more about consistency and how you talk to someone at 6:40 in the morning than we do about your knowledge of taste profiles. If you take the coffee shop experience seriously without being precious about it, you'll fit here. Successful baristas at Gearhouse get paid to go on adventures with our members!

Baristas

Ski and Gear Technicians

We're not mounting skis - what we need is someone who can keep a rental fleet healthy: spotting a binding problem before the member does, tunes and waxes, boot fits that aren't working, and knowing when a pair should come off the rack for good. Experience across other sports is a real plus, winter or summer — our racks don't stop at skis, and neither do our seasons. Join Gearhouse if you want a slower rental environment where every customer gets the time and guidance they need for a broad variety of adventures. You'll get to know the members' on a more frequent and recurring basis from expert adventurers to those just getting started on their outdoor journey. Successful gear wranglers at Gearhouse get bonus hours to host member trips from weekday skiing to shuttle rides to the mountain and back!

Guides & community builders

People who've led trips, run clubs, taught classes, organized rides, or otherwise gotten a group of humans out the door and back again in one piece. Certs are great (Wilderness First Responder preferred!). A track record of people actually showing up again and again is better.

Wear more than one hat?
(we'll pay attention)

Some of our best roles don't fit neatly under one job title. A barista who can tune skis in November. A guide who can hold down a Saturday bar rush. If you're strong in more than one of the areas above, say so in your intro - those are the applications we get excited about, and the seasons make it genuinely useful. The mix shifts through the year: more bench and bar in winter, more time outside when it stops raining, there will be a role here for you year round.

The details

  • Seasonal, part-time, and full-time roles, depending on the season and the person

  • Hourly base pay, plus tips on bar shifts

  • Based in Capitol Hill, Seattle

  • No opening required to apply - we keep these on file and come back to them

How to apply

Send an email to the following folks:
to: evan+adventures@joingearhouse.com; seanp@joingearhouse.com; emeraldl@joingearhouse.com

And answer the following information:

  • What are you interested in? — Barista · Ski tech · Guiding / community · Something else

  • Tell us about your relevant experience (short answer — shops, cafés, trips led, roasters, whatever's relevant)

  • What kind of schedule are you after? — Seasonal · Part-time · Full-time · Open to anything

  • Earliest you could start

  • Tell us about something you're good at that isn't on your résumé (short answer)

  • Links or résumé (optional)

  • How'd you hear about us?

We read every one of these, though we're a small crew, so it's not always fast. If something opens up that matches what you're after, we'll reach out. In the meantime, come by. Order something. Ask what we've got in the gear room.

Specialty Roles we're actively searching for:

Gearhouse is always looking for baristas, ski techs/gear techs, and people who know how to get a group outside. Seasonal, part-time, and full-time. No opening required — tell us what you're good at.
