FAQ

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

You take the adventure, and we provide all the outdoor gear. We aren't your average outdoor gear rental shop. We carefully select outdoor gear from our library to meet your needs. There are no additional charges for extra equipment and add-ons. Think pillow, med-kit, instant coffee, all the little extras you never remember but always wish you had.

Since we strive for light-weight over most durable, we ask you to treat our gear with a little more care. Bring gear back the same day your trip ends and we're happy to clean it, otherwise, just make sure it isn't put away wet and return at your convenience.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN TRIP PLANNING?

It can be as much or as little as you need. Are you looking for ideas for new places to check out? We're happy to kick it and talk out ideas for your next adventure. 


Maybe you need a little more?

Then consider Gearhouse your personal National Park Service ranger. We consider everything from weather reports to trail conditions, gear recommendations, and permit requirements. If it's part of the adventure, we're thinking about it. We do the research and, you adventure more!

We expand our gear sizes as required to fit our member's needs.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Our regular operating hours are listed at the bottom of our site and on Google! Book a custom appointment here.

THIS SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!?

Exactly! We'd love for you to come check us out so we can redefine your expectations for what gear rental or even gear ownership should be. We guarantee you've never seen a rental shop + community hub that's so welcoming, friendly, and convenient and we can't wait to reset your expectations of a kick-ass business. 

BUT REALLY - WHERE'S THE GOTCHA?

There isn't one (honestly)! It's easy to cancel (we'll be sad to see you go but no games, just email us as we haven't built a membership management portal yet) and we reward long term members by honoring the price they signed up for even as the product gets better and better. 

We're built on customer service so that you can use the gear you need when you need it. Gearhouse runs on a lot of trust and that trust has been reciprocated by the community so we haven't had to make as many rules as other membership orgs put in place. We're confident that you'll have a great time here and our policies reflect that. 

Are there any minimum commitments? Our Community membership has no monthly minimums so it's a great way to try it out and see if it's a good fit for you. We ask for 4-months minimum for our all-in memberships since they are such a good value. If you're not interested in membership because you're visiting from out of town, then join in our courses for or rent gear as a non-member is for you -- all the gear you need for your PNW trip.

What gear do you have? We have everything ranging from kayaks to ultralight backpacking equipment, to mountain bikes, to backcountry skis - the only gear we don't carry is climbing equipment. You can see our full inventory here!

How often do you run events?  We strive to host outdoor adventures 2-3 times per week, 1-2 social events, and 1-2 classes per week. Some are after work on weekdays, others on weekends.

Can I use gear on my own? You betcha! We operate 3-5 day rental windows so that pick-up and dropoff is a breeze - no extra fees for members.
