About the event
Thru-Hiking & the PCT
This is the first event in the Women Outdoors Speaker Series
Have you ever thought about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail but don't know where to start? Then this event is for you!
Maybe you've already started researching or know nothing at all. Come chat with one of our members about her personal experience on the PCT.
We'll cover everything from preplanning, mileage, gear, resupply, cowboy camping, and more! You'll get some steps to take to start planning your PCT trip and insights that will help you understand what to expect when you're out there.
Bring your questions and excitement! We can't wait to see you there!
The Women Outdoors Speaker Series
We were inspired by our existing members and partners to create a Series that gives women access to women in the outdoors. Through Gearhouse we are lucky enough to have a living network of women, from outdoor-aspiring to outdoor-accomplished. These events will bring us all together at Basecamp Café for a four week series that will educate, action and - by default - inspire you out of your seat and into the wilderness.  This event supports the continuation of Gearhouse and Basecamp Café as a community space.
Tickets for each event are $10 and each ticket gets you an entry to the raffle that will be held on the final night of the series.
This is an inclusive event, and all are invited to share in the woman’s outdoor experience, and the passion that the speakers and Gearhouse have for the outdoors and these respective activities.
5.30pm - Come and mingle and meet other outdoor people
6.00pm - Hear from our speaker about their outdoor passion and knowledgeable advice
7.00pm - Q&A/Follow-up planning/chat/hang out
About Sam Carter
Sam is a PNW transplant from Virginia. Her love of the mountains and hiking was formed after moving here alone and finding solace and friendships through nature. After her first backpacking trip in 2018, she was hooked. She has since completed a few thru-hikes, loads of backpacking trips, and even tagged some of Washington's volcanoes (working on the last two!). She's a PE/Health teacher in her day to day life and her love for teaching extends to the outdoors as well. The PNW is officially her home.
