About the event
Have you ever thought about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail but don't know where to start? Start here!
Sam Carter (she/her) is an experienced thru-hiker, awesome Gearhouse community member, and a PE/health teacher with a passion for helping people explore the natural world. Join Sam for a casual chat to get all your questions answered. She'll talk to you about her personal experience on the PCT and we'll cover everything you need to know: permits, pre-planning, mileage, gear, resupply, cowboy camping, and more! You'll get some steps to take to start planning your PCT trip and insights that will help you understand what to expect when you're out there. Bring your questions and excitement! We can't wait to see you there.
Sam Carter is a PNW transplant from Virginia. Her love of the mountains and hiking was formed after moving here alone and finding solace and friendships through nature. After her first backpacking trip in 2018, she was hooked. She has since completed a few thru-hikes, loads of backpacking trips, and even tagged some of Washington's volcanoes (working on the last two!). Her love for teaching extends to the outdoors as well. The PNW is officially her home!
Get ahead and learn all you need about getting a PCT permit and your questions answered about gear, travel, logistics, trail ettiquette and more by our experienced PCT and thru-hiking lover - Sam Carter.
Permits are released on Oct 24, so don't miss this opportunity. Who knows, you might meet a trail family before you even set off on your adventure.
