Our phones have become important tools for our outdoor exploration, however relying on a device that might fail can be a risk. 

Join us as we journey into the world of topographic maps, how to use them, and with some basic knowhow and a compass you can keep your self found and go further with confidence.

Part 1 of this course will be an evening classroom session.

This is a 2 Part Course:

• You can take Part 1 by itself.
• If you'd like to take Part 2, you'll need to have taken Part 1.

• Understand how to read topographic maps
• Know how to orient a map
• Learn to use a Compass
• translate landforms from a map to real life
• Understand how to differentiate between true north and magnetic north
• Navigate a simple orienteering course
