About the event

Our expert fly fisher friend Allie from Ladies in Wadies (@ladiesinwadies) believes you shouldn't need to hire a guide to get into fly fishing. We at Gearhouse agree. That's why together we're starting a series to break down those barriers to entry and help you build the skills to get after it on your own—come learn what makes the art so fun!

Our first class Allie will teach us how to cast, focusing on basic techniques for how to gauge distance, how to target where a fly lands, and more. We'll provide the rods, reels, and lines, and set up space for you to practice for yourself. Our second class will focus on how to read water, choose flies, tie knots, and other specifics about how to level up your fishing skills.  Then—lets go fishing!

Fly fishing is a sport for everyone! All experience levels are welcome to attend!

Who is Allie? And what is Ladies in Wadies?

“I have always had a strong pull towards the outdoors and any and all activities I could possibly get involved in as long as I was outside. Over the past handful of years, I was lucky enough to be able to travel across the country, fishing rivers in all corners of the United States, and falling in love with fly fishing and all it has to offer. Ladies in Wadies was started at a bar in Bozeman, Montana after a long day of fishing on the Lower Madison River. It was there that I decided to start to share my love of the sport with anyone that would listen. What began as a funny instagram account to post catches and mustache filter selfies slowly transformed into a way to build a community of folks that want to learn how to swing some flies and have a great time while doing it!” —Allie
