Learn to Sail Series (5)

Please Note: The Learn to Sail Series and Intro to Sailing requires 3 people to a boat. We will reach out to organise different dates if your course doesn't fill to ensure a full boat goes out. Be prepared for date and time changes.

This basic boat handling course provides you with the fundamental skills necessary to properly navigate a sailboat: basic seamanship, rules of the road, raising sails, docking, sail trims and steering. 

This course is set-up to take you from a novice to a confident sailor, over the course of the Series.

• Sailing upwind and downwind
• Stopping & getting out of “irons”
• Tacking & Gybing
• COB maneuvers
• Rules of the waterways

Sign-up for Lesson 1 (Intro to Sailing) which prepares you for the Learn to Sail Series

Lesson 3: August 25

Lesson 4: September 1

There are 4 lessons in a Series. You will decide the remaining three lesson dates with your sailmates at your first lesson.

Logistics

All of our lessons are 2 hours and taught by a USCG certified captain who has years of sailing experience. Lessons are separated into 4 levels with each introducing you to new skills and building on what you’ve previously learned.

You'll learn alongside other Gearhouse members, and will have access to boats to take out on Lake Union after you've qualified.
