About the event
A Very Special Solstice Event
This is a member only event
The Fremont Solstice Festival doesn't have to mean that the celebrations of the season is over. Mark the pinnacle of the summer transition with an after-dark kayak that uses the Gearhouse ORU kayaks to paddle across Lake Union and enjoy dinner on the northside before returning across the lake with glowing lights leading you home!
Please note: This event DOES NOT leave from Gearhouse. It meets and leaves from Goose Beach.
The Plan
Meet and launch from Goose Beach and paddle over to Fritz Hedges Waterway Park on the U-district waterfront, beach the kayaks and eat dinner hanging out at the park, then paddle back to Goose Beach aiming to be back at 9:30-10pm.
What you need
- Headlamp and any other fun lights you want to include in your kayak
- Water-appropriate clothing (quick-drying and/or waterproof)
- ORU Kayaks and PFDs are provided by Gearhouse (plus some headlamps)
- Bring snacks to share, dinner or purchase from Agua Verde Cafe nearby
The lights are an important part of this adventure. They are required for legal kayaking at night and will help us stay together after dark.
