About the event

If you’ve learned how to clean a route and can lead belay but want to become a full lead climber, then this course is for you!

Note: This a 2 part series. Please RSVP to attend the field day separately here. You do not have to attend the field day to attend the classroom session.

We’ll teach you the techniques required to safely attach a rope to a wall, build an anchor at the top, and rappel back down so your friends can follow suit! All under the purview of a AMGA guides. You'll start your learning with instruction in the GH classroom  followed by a day out at a local Seattle crag to practice the skills outdoors.

We’ll cover:

  1. Lead climbing sequence
  2. Quickdraws and how to clip
  3. Bolt inspection and evaluation
  4. Resting on Lead
  5. Falling on Lead
  6. How to build a sport climbing anchor
  7. Lead climbing commands

Who is it for?

For those that have climbed outside before and cleaned a route/lead belayed

Logistics

This course starts with an evening classroom session (Part 1) and then progresses to a day in the field with the guides to hone your skills! (Part 2)

Classroom:

- Notetaking items

- Water

- Snacks or dinner

Field Days:

- All gear provided except clothes and food provided. Bring what you need to be comfortable moving in the outdoors

- Outdoor locations: Vantage, I-90 Exits

- Meet at Gearhouse and head to the location together.
