About the event

Level up from freeze dried food and learn how to meal plan and cook in the backcountry. We'll talk about how much food you'll need, nutrition needs on the trail,  options for meals, and we'll practice cooking on the stoves and kits that you'll use while camping. Did you know you can make pesto pasta or curry rice on the trail? We'll show you how! The options are endless; come hungry!

This course is a part of our backpacking and bikepacking series! We at Gearhouse want to get as many different kinds of people outside, so we’re running a series to teach you absolutely everything you’d need to know to get out into the backcountry. We'll talk how to pack a bike, gear, trail selection, weight (you don’t need to be ultralight to have a lighter pack!), food, safety: we will cover it all. At the end of this series, you’ll be confident in your skills to get you and your friends out on the trail, and we'll plan a trip to put your knowledge to the test.
